چکیده

In this review, we present an overview of the main aspects related to statistical evaluation medical tests for diagnosis and prognosis. Measures diagnostic performance binary tests, such as sensitivity, specificity, predictive values, are introduced, extensions case continuous-outcome detailed. Special focus is placed on receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve its estimation, with emphasis topic covariate adjustment. The extension time-dependent ROC curves evaluating prognostic accuracy also touched upon. We apply several approaches described a data set derived from study aimed evaluate ability homeostasis model assessment insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) levels identify individuals at high cardio-metabolic risk how discriminatory might be influenced by age gender. outline software available implementation methods.

Statistical Evaluation of Diagnostic Tests

ISSN 2277 5048 | © 2012 Bonfring Abstract--The use of routine laboratory tests in diagnosing disease is becoming of increasing importance. This emphasizes to test the efficiency of diagnostic tests, since relatively few diagnostic tests correctly classify all subjects tested as diseased or well. The more usual situation is one in which some well subjects are classified as diseased and some dise...

Statistical evaluation of standardized field sobriety tests.

Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs) are used as qualitative indicators of impairment by alcohol in individuals suspected of DUI. Stuster and Burns authored a report on this testing and presented the SFSTs as being 91% accurate in predicting Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) as lying at or above 0.08%. Their conclusions regarding accuracy are heavily weighted by the large number of subject...

Feasibility of using statistical tests in evaluation of non-uniformity [Persian]

Introduction: Non-uniformity test is essentially the only required daily QC procedure in nuclear medicine practice. Noise creates statistical variation or random error in a flood image. Non-uniformity on the other hand does not have statistical nature and may be regarded as systemic error. The present methods of non-uniformity calculation do not distinguish between these two types of erro...

Statistical Significance Tests for Machine Translation Evaluation

If two translation systems differ differ in performance on a test set, can we trust that this indicates a difference in true system quality? To answer this question, we describe bootstrap resampling methods to compute statistical significance of test results, and validate them on the concrete example of the BLEU score. Even for small test sizes of only 300 sentences, our methods may give us ass...

Statistical Tests for Network Classifier Evaluation

Recently a number of modeling techniques have been developed for data mining and machine learning in relational and network domains where the instances are not independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.). These methods specifically exploit the statistical dependencies among instances in order to improve classification accuracy. However, there has been little focus on how these same depende...
